About This Guide

Built by Dog Lovers, for Dog Lovers

Dog-Friendly NOVA is a community-driven guide to the best dog-friendly parks, trails, restaurants, and neighborhoods across Northern Virginia and the DC area. It's part lifestyle resource, part local directory — and all heart.

The Story

Why Does Dog-Friendly NOVA Exist?

Northern Virginia is one of the most dog-friendly regions on the East Coast, with over 50 off-leash dog parks across Fairfax County, Prince William County, and Loudoun County alone. Fairfax County Park Authority administers more than 23,000 acres of parkland with over 320 miles of trails. The region offers hundreds of miles of pet-friendly trails, from the 18-mile Bull Run Occoquan Trail in Prince William County to the 45-mile W&OD Trail through Fairfax and Loudoun counties. And the restaurant patio scene in Manassas and Leesburg continues to grow every year.

But finding all of that in one place? That's harder than it should be.

Dog-Friendly NOVA was created to be that one place. Whether you're a longtime resident looking for a new trail to try, a newcomer wondering which neighborhood has the best dog park access, or a visitor planning a dog-friendly weekend trip to the area — this guide is for you.

Every recommendation comes from personal experience and community input. We visit the parks, eat at the patios, walk the trails, and talk to the local pet businesses. This isn't an algorithm — it's a curated guide built by someone who actually lives here with a dog.

I'm GG Sfreddo, an Associate Broker with eXp Realty licensed in Virginia and Washington, DC. I've spent years helping people find their perfect homes across Northern Virginia — from the rolling countryside of Fauquier County to the vibrant streets of Arlington and everything in between.

But my real passion? Dogs. I believe that where you live should work for every member of your family — including the ones with four paws. That's why I focus on helping dog owners find communities where they and their pups can truly thrive.

Dog-Friendly NOVA is my way of sharing what I've learned about pet-friendly living in this incredible region. It's a love letter to the parks, trails, patios, and neighborhoods that make NOVA such a wonderful place to be a dog owner.
